Welcome to Cashpaka

While working at MaxMedia, a client in the logistics and delivery space approached us to design an app that replaces the current tool they use to track the performance of their delivery drivers. The company contracts with a large e-commerce brand and has its own driver performance app. However, the drivers who use it vehemently dislike it. It provides more admonishment than praise, which lowers the morale of drivers. So, MaxMedia came in to deliver a product that actually coaches drivers and rewards them for safe driving.

Introducing the Cashpaka app. We designed Cashpaka to be a gamified experience that rewards drivers for their safe driving. The app features an engaging mascot that provides timely advice and positive reinforcement as they run their delivery routes. The app aggregates driver data by integrating into the current safety tools the logistics company uses. The app then generates reports after each drive and a weekly summary so drivers can see their performance.

I, leading a small team of designers, crafted the end-to-end design for Cashpaka to hand off to our partner development team. As a player-coach, I spearheaded the design process. We started with initial discovery research, user interviews, and competitive analysis. Armed with research and data informing a gamified visual-first product, we workshopped the product branding, including the logo and mascot. I then transitioned to defining the user-centered design, creating wireframes and prototypes at increasing levels of fidelity to test all the aspects of the digital product. Once the designs and documentation were finalized, we handed them off to the development team for implementation, turning the product around within six months.

The app rewards high-performing and improving drivers with badges and achievements. Underperforming drivers receive notifications from the alpaca mascot, Cash, on how to improve performance, providing training videos for improvement. Cashpaka also has a messaging system to help drivers keep in touch with each other. This allows drivers to keep their driving communication consolidated and separate from their personal messages. The app emphasizes the visual-first approach we defined, with large images, text, icons, and UI to help drivers easily navigate the app when on the move. Overall, the app provides a delightful and rewarding experience for drivers, an improvement over the competition which focuses more on driver admonishment.

The Cashpaka app can give a scaffolding for e-commerce delivery companies to manage their drivers with more engagement and structure. The manager side of the platform can allow managers to track their drivers, reach out to those who need help, and reward those performing well with bonuses and gifts. The Cashpaka app is a product designed to help people do better, drive safer, and feel rewarded at their jobs.
